Giuliani and Republicans are Realistic on Terrorism

Some 7 months ago, before Primary Place was started, my wife and I attended the "infamous" Lincoln Day dinner where Rudy Giuliani was the guest speaker. The reason I am writing about that evening now is that the current discourse over Gen. Petreaus's assessment clearly illustrates what Rudy was saying that evening.

You may remember the headlines from February and the uproar over the Mayor's remarks such as, "Rudy Questions Democrat's Patriotism". Barak Obama also made headlines immediately slamming Rudy for questioning his patriotism. The truth is, the media and Obama got it all wrong. Rudy did not question anyones patriotism, just their judgement. He simply pointed out their inability to effectively fight the war on terror due to their left wing perspective on life.

Then as now, they are precluded from objective analysis of the situation due to their vested belief in an idealized world. Anything that contradicts that illusion must be attacked and assailed. If you don't like the message, attack the message. If you can't attack the message, attack the messenger!

What Mayor Giuliani said that night was, Republicans look at events based upon what is, and then address the problems. Democrats view events based upon the way they believe things should be, then make decisions. Republicans acknowledge that there is evil that cannot be "corrected, consoled or compassioned" into change. It must be confronted. Democrats believe that there "should be" good in all things, therefore, confrontation should never be an option. Republicans have long memories, Democrats do not. They believe Hitler, Stalin and others who required confrontation do not exist in todays world. "Everyone should just get along".

Due to this simple difference in perspective, Rudy stated that America would be safer with a Republican as President. That terrorist and terrorism are a fact these days. That there is currently a war of ideology violently taking place today where the goal is the eradication of the western ideals of democracy, freedom of speech, worship and universal equality. And that America is the primary target according to Osama Bin Laden and others. The Democrats ignore this.

This week, even with taped messages from Bin Laden released, the Democrats chose to attack the messenger rather keep an open mind and work towards a common purpose. I would encourage the undecided and the independant to concider Rudy Giuliani as one of their choices for our next President and learn more about the man and his vision.

I understand your concern with tyrannycal leaders  around the world. They indeed threaten democracy not only in America, but in general. My question is why are not Republicans focusing in other countries, besides Iraq?(Sudan) What is been accomplished in Iraq? Also you are right, not everyone gets along and that is why democrats have proposed different ways to deal with foreign affairs.Democrats do have a conscience and a memory and have taken into account what happened in Vietnam. War should not be the first and the best choice. Its not  about Republicans vs. Democrats is about  having a better understanding of the international context. War and cohesion are not always successful.
