Edwards: A Confusing Approach to the Military
I went to see Edwards with my friend Brian Griset, also a Republican, so you know of my bias right off the bat. Edwards appears much smaller in person than on the TV - almost slight in stature, except for the a large head accented by the blow-dried hair. His plan for Iraq is to pull out 40,000 troups immediately and have all the others out in 9-10 months.
He didn't answer what that would do to Iraq or the natural consequences of ethnic cleansing that would occur similar to our rapid departure from Vietnam (doesn't care). He kept talking about Blackwater and how this was a result of an undemocratic military and that if he were President he would bring " Democracy" back to the military.
I couldn't figure out what this fellow was talking about, but he kept saying he wanted to restore "Democracy" to the military. Since when do the privates, corporals and sargeants vote to determine which General they want to lead them? The military is an authoritarian type organization that never has been Democratic, nor will it ever be Democratic, and thank God, or it would never accomplish anything.
I left the meeting shaking my head trying to figure out how a society like ours could allow such a dim-wit to even approach running for President
