Obama's Energy Plan

In the new and green building of the Portsmouth Public Library, I heard Barak Obama descirbe his energy plan. He arrived at the scheduled time, which is always refreshing. The small audience of 100 or so all seemed to be supporters or those leaning toward Obama. Two women I had seen at a house party for Obama the week before were there trying to decide. When his plan presented and he had spoken, they had decided to back Obama.

I found the Energy plan very comprehensive and the connections made from small every day changes to major new directions clear and understandable. It was clear to me that he sees us as having a responsibility globally to lead for change. Our time to be the leader in consumption should be over.

I have heard several candidates in person and I do try to analyze what is the spark that we are all looking for. The intellect, competency and drive appear in all. I am most moved by the way Barak Obama is able to challenge and motivate his audience. He takes time to meet and chat and also remembers those he's met earlier on the campaign trail. He is looking to ask more of us, of all of us. I have been waiting for a President of this country to do that for a long time.

I know that we as Americans want to put a finer face on the image of this country both here and abroad. Barak Obama at this point gives me a sense that he can lead and challenge us.
