Why Obama...A conversation with a friend
I think I decided on Obama along time ago - a gut thing! I heard Lawrence Tribe speak this morning at the Library, he was Obama's Constitutional Law professor at Harvard - what an incredible man!
I just can't get excited about either Edwards or Hillary. I think Obama is fresh, I think he will be a GREAT president, I think he will be viewed by the world in a way that this country really needs. He is experienced in the kinds of ways that I believe a president needs to be experienced and I think he will bring integrity and honesty to the presidency.
It's a new world out there and we need a president that doesn't look back but looks forward, yet understands the history of this country - I think he more than any other candidate can do that. I look at the race issue - the achilles heel of our nation. I see what is going on in Africa and maybe, just maybe, with an awaremess of the genocide, of AIDS/HIV....that we may have the opportunity to look past the division of race - I think Barak Obama can help us move to that next level of understanding and unity. Naive, maybe, but I have hope and I believe in the kind of hope that Obama represents.
So..that's why!
