Hillary Excites Volunteers
On November 26, during a rainy, chilly evening, hundreds of folks lined up outside a union hall in Brentwood, potluck food in hand. They were volunteers for Hillary, coming in to make phone calls from their cellphones on behalf of the candidate, using names and numbers provided by the Clinton campaign. By the time I got inside, I saw tables and tables of folks hard at work on their phones, and tables and tables of the wonderful food they'd brought. There were tables of folks writing personalized postcards on behalf of Hillary, and signmakers, too!
The excitement in the room, leading up the Hillary's appearance, following cheerleading by campaign co-chairs Rep. Terie Norelli and Bill Shaheen, was palpable. When Hillary did apppear, the folks responded with electricity to her general presentation, and, very loudly and clearly, her request for the help of everyone in the room to get out to the vote for the primary, and to work for her election next November!
New insight: the excitement continues, the willingness to sit down and work and not just sit in a hall and listen, and the genuine two-way interest between candidate and voters! The vitality of Hilllary Clinton on this day, after campaign stops in little places (Loaf and Ladle in Exeter) as well as this larger event, demonstrate how hard she works. And that, her handlers pointed out, is what all of us in the room need to do to help her win. I think those several hundreds will do just that.
