Personal Statement
Never has one country with so much potential for good, done so little with it. I am worn out by, greed, lies, deception, fear, suspicion, killing, polarization. Is there really a debate in 2007 in the USA over what types of torture are OK? We are far better than this. In 2003 a Republican friend said to me, "I want my party back." For me, it was too late. I had already registerd as an "undeclared" in NH. Life in the 'post 9/11 world' is no different. There have always been dangers and threats. It is America that has changed. Pre 9/11 we were safe, free, proud, respected, happy, prosperous, at peace; we also used to be the example of hope, trust, justice, law, fairness. Things were not perfect, we were not perfect; but as nations go, we were the bedrock. I want this back. I want goodness and truth. I want my country back.
